Perkinston is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) located in the southeastern part of Stone County, Mississippi, United States. It is situated about 30 miles northwest of Biloxi and about 50 miles northeast of Gulfport. Perkinston has a population of approximately 1,436 people, as of the 2010 census.
The Perkinston campus of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is located in this community. It is one of the main draws and contributors to the local economy. Agriculture is also a major industry in the area with soybeans, cotton, and timber being some of the main crops produced.
The climate in Perkinston is humid subtropical, characterized by hot summers and mild winters. The average high temperature in July is 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while the average low temperature in January is 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
